ARIES (March 21-April 19)
Pets of this astrology sign are more aggressive than almost all other pets of other signs.    They have bursts of energy but lack in stamina.  Aries pets prefer to be first in line and will make it very clear to other pets.  They want to be the only master pet in the household and do not share competition (or just share, period!) well.  So if you’re thinking of getting a playmate for your Aries pet, think again! (And if you do decide, DO NOT adopt another Aries pet!)

Aries pets are not afraid to fight and do not give up easily. However, they are lovers too (of sex, that is!). They can be easily persuaded to flee the coop so be sure to keep them safe and secured.

Aries pets need lots of open space playing so be sure to offer that consistently. Closed spaces would be a detriment for your Fido, Puss, or Thumper.

HEALTH:  Since Aries rules the head be sure to regularly check their head area including teeth, eyes, ears, nose for any health concerns.  Aries is also a fire sign which means your Aries pet is susceptible to overheating.

TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)
Taurus pets are easy-going pets; easy to train and easy to have around.  They are ideal for staying at home and other than a stubborn streak, are a pleasure to have around. They don’t respond well to name calling and will most likely wait for you to approach them. They also enjoy being doted on and enjoy belly rubs and adoration when taking their afternoon naps.   Dote on your Taurus with massages, grooming and you’ll have a friend for life.

Taurus pets are slow in pace and in how they take life.  These animals stay in a secured place quite comfortably until you give them the poke or prod or pull they need to get moving.  For this reason, they are ideal travelling companions.

As for exercise, a Taurus pet would pass on any regimen that would require over the top energy. Frisbee fetching, chasing rodents or training for the Kentucky Derby would all take a major miss from a Taurus pet.   A Taurus pet will get exercise but are careful to use their energy conservatively.
HEALTH:  Taurus rules the neck and throat which means your pet is vulnerable to sore throats, colds, coughs and is also to get small bones lodged in their throats (so avoid chicken bones and the likes!).  Taurus pets easily gain weight so avoid giving them table scraps.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)
Gemini pets love to socialize and have friends.  They have lots of nervous energy and have an agitated nature but love to mingle and talk more than pets of any other sign.  They are very vocal and enjoy ongoing stimulation.   For this reason it is necessary that Gemini pets get protected space for sleeping.    By all means, do not isolate your Gemini pet!

Gemini pets are fast learners and can often imitate what their owners do.  We had a border collie mix Gemini that watched us open the sliding glass door.  We left her inside one day, only to find her outside and the wood handle on the glass door with bite marks on it!

Gemini pets are attuned with their five senses and have a heightened sense of smell.  They make ideal police or narcotic dogs.  Their eyes sparkles and their taste buds make them finicky about food.  Their heightened sense of touch makes them not keen on doting, unlike Taurus.

HEALTH:  Gemini rules the nervous system.  Gemini pets have a fragile nervous system which needs to be recognized.  Try to avoid adding stress into your Gemini’s life and never give a Gemini sugar (which should never be given to animals anyway) or heavily processed foods.

CANCER (June 21-July 23)
The cancer sign is ruled by the moon and so are pets born on this day.  Since animals are innately intuitive, Cancer pets are heavily influenced by the moon when it’s full and when it’s Monday (known as the day of the moon).  So if you detect your pet is inpatient, irritable, fidgeting or restless you can most probably chalk it up to the moon.

Cancer pets are emotional and sensitive and very affectionate.   They need ongoing attention, physical as well as emotional and will reciprocate quite lovingly.  For this reason, cancer pets need their owners to be ever present; thus absentee owners just don’t work.

Cancer pets also fall under the water sign and love to be bathed or jump in the lake so be sure to incorporate that regularly into their routine.  Yet cancer pets do enjoy the indoors as long as their emotional needs are being met.

Mothering younger animals cancer pets do well.  If mothering is out then offer your pet a stuffed animal so it can “play” mother.

Leo pets are loyal, ego-centric, regal, great protectors and clear communicators.  They demand attention and affection and they will not give up until they get it.  They communicate clearly with their eyes and body gestures and in their most regal manner demand what they want and are relentless until they get it.

Leo pets are performers and show-offs.  They prance, dance, strut and push out their chests to show their royalty (and their ego!).   Their self-confidence emulates with everything that they do including protecting you and the family. Albeit independent, Leo pets also have quick tempers and can quickly change their demeanor if their ego feels threatened.  Although they do not provoke fights, Leos are fighters and will fight to the end, if need be.

LIBRA (September 23-October 22)
Libra pets main desire is to keep the peace with grace, dignity and strength.  When my Leo Shephard/Lab Mix barked obnoxiously for an adult to throw a stick into the lake, my friend’s Libra Wolf dog pinned her to the ground and shortly released her without any harm.  Libra’s are not fighters but rather peacekeepers that will intervene when necessary.

Libra pets crave companionship, so being home more often than not will benefit their security.  Since Libra is an air sign, even though they require our company they don’t demand physical attention.  They’re quite happy entertaining themselves while taking in an occasional belly rub. 

Libra pets have a way of creating adoration for them. They are easy to love and show is very subtle ways when it’s time to give them some attention.

They don’t deviate or test the boundaries; necessarily and certainly won’t be the pet that antagonizes or looks for mischief, out of boredom.
