What More to Know:
Dogs and cats paws can suffer from cuts, sores, bruising, cracks and even burns. It’s important to watch for symptoms and treat the affected areas as soon as possible to prevent infection. As durable as our pets paws may seem, remain aware of your surroundings.
Be Aware: Every pet’s paws are different.
(Take it from me!) I recently went on an 18 mile day hike with our dog, JoJo (a lab/shepard mix) and our friend’s dog, Bleu (A Golden Retriever). Nearly half of the hike travelled us through and over shale, when exposed to the sun, can be exceedingly hot. So hot that Bleu’s pads became sore and burned from the lengthy trek. As a result, we carried him our last 2 miles of the hike. JoJo’s paws were not affected. We learned our lesson.
What Symptoms to Look For:
• Limping
• Excessive licking on one paw
What More You Can Do:
Check your dog or cat’s paws weekly for cuts, sores, and objects lodged in between their toes. Keep on hand Clenzor and PawPaw to treat injured paws as soon as you can. For prevention, apply PawPaw topically one time a day.
